Missy Gainer is a Wakulla County native and a certified fitness instructor and nutritionist at Body-Tek 24 Hour Fitness.

After earning degrees from both Tallahassee Community College and The Florida State University, Missy began a 15-year state government career in professional development and continuing education. She joined Wakulla High School in 2006 as an English teacher and went on to become a WHS Teacher of the Year, sponsor of the Rotary-Interact Club and president of the Wakulla Classroom Teachers Association. Thirteen years later she retired from public education and began training anew at Body-Tek where she ‘made the wall’ as a body building novice.

Missy credits her love of education and ‘learning by doing’ to the many years of Wakulla 4-H activities and programs in her childhood. She enjoys volunteering and community advocacy and is also a proud member of the Chamber and the Wakulla Academic Boosters.  

Although she has traveled the northern hemisphere, Missy has never lived outside the Wakulla/Leon area, which she playfully refers to as the armpit of Florida. As she says, this is paradise, with its waters, forests, and FSU football all just 20 minutes away. Together she and her husband Randy have 5 children and 7 grandchildren.
