Greg James

About

Greg James, CFCC has worked for the Wakulla County Clerk’s Office since June 2000. He was elected as Clerk of Court in August 2020 and began serving in January 2021. In 2022, after 240 hours of training, Greg became a Certified Florida Court Clerk.

Greg attended Florida Community College at Jacksonville (now Florida State College) on a two-year athletic scholarship for Cross Country and Track where he was a two-year Academic Excellence All-American, and a two-year participant in the National Cross- Country Championships. Greg transferred to the University of North Florida and graduated from the College of Business Administration in 1994 with his Bachelors in Business Administration.

Greg currently serves on numerous boards and non-profits, both community and work related, including:

• 2019 – Present – Member and Past Treasurer (19-24) of Rotary Club of Wakulla
• 2019 – Present – Member of Keep Wakulla County Beautiful Board of Directors
• 2018 – Present – Member and Past Chair (18-19) of the Wakulla County UF/IFAS Extension & 4-H           Advisory Council
• 2017 – Present – Treasurer of the Wakulla High School Cross Country Boosters
• 2016 – Present – Member and Past President (22) of the Wakulla County Chamber of Commerce& Chair (23) of the Strategic Planning Committee
• 2012 – Present – Member and Past President (18) of the Big Bend Chapter of the Florida Government         Finance Officers Association (FGFOA)

As Clerk & Comptroller, Greg serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Wakulla County. Greg also serves in a financial advisory capacity to several governmental committees including Wakulla County’s 1 Cent Sales Tax Committee, the Wakulla County Audit Committee, and the Wakulla County Tourist Development Council.

In 2019 Greg was recognized as the Wakulla County Chamber of Commerce “Volunteer of the Year” and in 2022 Greg received the “Spirit of Collaboration” award from the Florida Court Clerks & Comptroller’s Association.

Greg is the father of two, his son, Cody and his daughter, Kasey. When not serving his community, Greg loves to play golf, fish and jetski!
