Description

Big Bend Hospice and its parent organization, Seven Oaks Health, are proud to announce the upcoming Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Seven Oaks Healthcare Mobile Medical Unit—a milestone initiative made possible through funding from the Florida Department of Health. The event will take place on Thursday, June 26, with a reception from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the Ribbon Cutting at 11:00 a.m., held at Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL. This innovative mobile unit represents a major step forward in expanding access to care throughout the Big Bend region. It reflects Seven Oaks Health’s mission to bring compassionate, expert support to patients and families—wherever they are. “We’re launching a new mobile medical unit, funded by the Florida Department of Health, which will bring palliative care directly into the communities we serve, addressing health disparities and expanding access to essential services,” said Bill Wertman, CEO of Seven Oaks Healthcare / Administrator of Big Bend Hospice, in a recent statement to the Tallahassee Democrat. The Seven Oaks Mobile Medical Unit will provide critical services to underserved and rural communities across North Florida, focusing on: •Grief and counseling support •Advance care planning and health education •Navigation to local health and social services (e.g., food, housing, transportation) •Seamless connection to Transitions Supportive Care, a program for individuals living with chronic or life-limiting illnesses While not currently licensed for clinical treatment, the unit will function as a community hub for education, emotional support, and care coordination, ensuring that vulnerable populations receive the information, advocacy, and guidance they need to make informed healthcare decisions. The June 26th celebration will feature remarks from Big Bend Hospice and Seven Oaks leadership, healthcare partners, and invited dignitaries. Among the honored guests are State Delegates Gallop Franklin II, Jason Shoaf, Allison Tant, and Corey Simon, as well as Congressman Neal Dunn, all of whom have shown steadfast support for this initiative. “We look forward to celebrating this next chapter in community-based care,” said Wertman. “Together, we are ensuring that no one faces serious illness alone—regardless of where they live.”
